On February 6^th 2016, we were from Class Diploma-3 Management Logistics and Material 2014 STMT TRISAKTI visited PT. Karya Citra Nusantara, Marunda, North Jakarta, Indonesia.

PT.Karya Citra Nusantara is one of Loading and Uploading Company in Indonesia. This company has a port, which is the common port. As specially to handle the handling bulk cargo such as coal, CPO, sand, and so on. There we saw and learned how the logistics activity, as specially the process of Loading and Uploading of Coal.

PT. Karya Citra Nusantara port has it’s main function is for loading and uploading, mostly for bulk goods and is usually to uploading the pole pancar to be sent out by using barge and than removed using a crane, which usually destination to Kalimantan.

The Process of Handling the coal in PT. Karya Citra Nusantara, namely :

As I heard yesterday during an explanation that the coal contained in the port PT. Karya Citra Nusantara come from Kalimantan and Palembang to be brought to port PT. Karya Citra Nusantara. Usually for bulk goods such as coal, to do the loading. After that, the coal bought to the manufacture, such as Indocement, Pindo Deli, and so on.

Wherein the first, when the coal comes entering the port by barges and after that moved to the truck by using excavator.

After that all coal already move to truck, than the coal moved to the scales. Used to weigh heavy capacity on demand or order. When starting the weighing should be with the state of the empty truck to know Tara. And than to do loading, than weighed contents to get gross and net, with a maximum capacity of 80 tons in gross weight.

After weigh, coal delivery to the manufacture, such as Indocement, Pindo Deli, and so on.

After we know about the process of Handling the coal, now we should know what the loading and uploading equipment they used for this activity as specially Jetty, Barges or Tongkang, and tug boat.

· Jetty

Jetty is an entrance that is in the area above the waters that have been planned will be it salvation from waves or wobble water that functions to rest or port barge and other small ships that will make transactions either up or down items do export and import.

Jetty is usually the direction of the shoreline and connected to the mainland by a bridge which normally form an angel perpendicular to the jetty to jetty can take the form of letters T or L.

· Barges or Tongkang

Barges is means of sea transport can only move and seagoing and river if delayed or withdrawn by the vessel (tug boat) which have a flat hull like a big box that floats used to transport goods. That usually brought bulk goods, such as coal, CPO, sand, pole pancar, ect.

· Tug Boat

Tug boat is a boat that can be used to maneuver or movement in port, sea off or by river or canal. Tug boat used to pull barges, broken and damaged equipment. Tug boat is a vessel specifically designed as tug or auxiliary ships, and the ships that area used to pull barges either load or not. Ship tug boat itself is a strong ship although small but powerful horse, therefore the ship is most often used in Indonesia. And tug boat has ten ship’s crew.
