Kaizen Plan to Develop an Integrated Industrian Area by Train in Karawang

Mr. Kyatmaja Lookman from PT. Lookman Djaja ha plan to develop an integrated industrial area by train in Karawang named Lookman Djaja Logistic Center to reduce logistic cost. As a logistics practitioner, i met with Mr. Yusuf Widjaja to give Kaizen plan for this project project.

The first, we have to know about Kaizen. As we know Kaizen is Continuous Improvement, and a methode to reduce unimportant and unnecessary on system, so can maximaliz dan reduce the waste in working process.

In Kaizen the improvement that involves employees, manager, and everyone who involve in this project.

There are some of the important point in implementation Kaizen process, namely:

·        The concept of 3M (Muda, Muri, and Mura)

This concept created to reduce fatigue, improve quality, shorten the time and reduce or effciensy costs. Muda interpreted as reducing waste, Mura interpreted as reducing the difference and Muri interpreted as reducing tension. So if PT. Lookman Djaja implementation this metode it can reduce the waste, the cost, and can improve quality of product.

Move the concept of 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke) or 5R. Seiri means to clean up the workplace. Seiton means saving regularly. Seiso means maintaining the workplace in order to keep it clean. Seiketsu means of personal hygiene. Seiketsu means discipline, to always obey workplace procedures. In Indonesia 5S translated into 5R, namely Compact, Neat, Rehearsal, care and diligent. So if PT. Lookman Djaja implementation this metode employees, and everyone that involve this project can implementation this methode 

in the workplace.

·       The concept of PDCA in KAIZEN. Every business activities that we do need to be done with the proper procedures in order to achieve the objectives that we expect. Then the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check and Action) should be carried out continuously.

·       The concept 5W + 1H. One of the tools the mindset to run the PDCA in KAIZEN activity is the engineering asks basic questions 5W + 1H (What, Who, Why, Where, When and How).

And the goal of establishing integrated Logistic Park Train is to answer the challenge of rail freight is still expensive because the problem dooring cost that still use the mode of trucking. with the establishment of an integrated railway line will benefit in terms of speed, reliability and low cost.

And base on Kaizen consept and esrablishing Integrated Logistict Park Train, can be develop an integrated industrial area by train in Karawang to reduce the cost of logistics, and reduces traffic jam and road damage. Directly modal choice is clearly make efficient road repair budget .
